As far as I can tell, VPN services like "ExpressVPN" are scams. Last night while listening to a podcast, they had an advertisement for ExpressVPN that claimed it prevented your ISP from eavesdropping on your Google searches. This is not true, VPNs don't do this.
Google uses HTTPS encryption 100% of the time. This prevents anybody but the Google from knowing the content of your searches. Your ISP can only know that you have an encrypted connection to the Google, they cannot know what the connection contains.
Therefore, the advertisement by ExpressVPN is fraud.
