This song has been ghosting around my head all day.

It accompanied my quotidian struggle with the concept of time. Especially after a night of no sleep. Insomnia, I tell you. It messes with you.

I’m glad for the existence of this song though. 1/

These lines in particular were sleep-deprived me:

I've been crushed by the tumbling tide
And my soul has been psychedelicized
Now the time has come
There are things to realize
Time has come today

Just generally, I do fine with regularly scheduled work. Like the classes I teach. I’m ready for them. I show up on time and in the right place. I’m also fine with packing daily lunches. Or chauffeuring children to repeat activities.

(High school was my best time!) 3/
But all the irregular stuff just kills me sometimes. This very short week I missed a meeting because I put it on the wrong date; I bungled that I needed to rearrange child pickup for a workshop; and who knows what else will happen on the remaining three days! 4/
I forget what I’d scheduled. I neglect to look at my calendar. I forget to put things in the calendar. And then I unproductively interrupt myself because I panic about what irregularly scheduled event/meeting/thing I have forgotten or only vaguely remember or never sorted out. 5/
Time!

Time!

Time!
