“Deregulation” means throwing away the safety net of workers’ & environmental rights.
You don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone, or swamped in technical jargon.
So lost are we in the circus of “will-he/we-won’t-we”, we’ve completely stopped asking the critical q of where Brexit leaves us. Worse off, quantifiably.

But words like “deal” have become so brandished in the Brexit political lexicon that, without detailed & dispassionate analysis, they become loaded with the assumption that they are inherently a good thing.
But so tumbled about & fatigued are we by the whole charade & theatre of Brexit that we are not stopping to ask what the “deal” means (beyond customs implications) for all of us, in the days and years ahead.
Deregulation too has real life consequences.
The job of the media now must be to dismantle these terms.
Rolling back hard-won rights is what deregulation means.
