I would like a revival of the use of Dr. as an address for PhDs
In our times, we have separated academic accomplishments from personal behavior
By having that address, you are making your "intellectual elite" more conscious of their elite status and concomitant responsibilities

In general the resumption of such addresses and a revival of formality in conversation, can do a lot to discipline the motor-mouths, and make people more conscious of their "reputation" when they engage in public discourse
E.g. Would Ram Guha engage in the kind of ridiculous twitter fights he is often seen in, if he were Dr. Ramachandra Guha?
