I think Boris' deal is enough. I don't think we needed a Withdrawal Agreement Treaty. I think having one in the form we did was a bad idea. I think it covers many issues that should not be in a Treaty, & many of the provisions are bad. 1/
I think almost everything the DUP says about why it is opposed to Boris' deal is right. I think it's wrong to be paying so much money we don't owe when the commitment to an FTA in the PD is so vague. I think there's a good chance the FTA never happens. 2/
I think the EU'll attempt to use the vague para on level playing field conditions in the same way it used the vague paragraph abt the NI-IRE border backstop in the Phase 1 Agreement, interpreting it in a way it finds convenient & pretending that was what was already agreed. 3/
I think the DUP is probably correct that if Boris had waited a little longer, especially if the Benn Act hadn't undermined him, the EU would have agreed to more. 4/
But, when all's said & done it's better to leave on friendly-ish terms with the EU than not. The NI arrangements are a form of devolution, with NI's people giving their consent to extend an EEA-for-NI style transition if they want to, every 4 yrs, with no Sinn Fein or EU veto. 5/
There are no restrictions on GB regulatory freedom in the Treaty, & nothing in the long-term preventing NI from reverting to UK regulatory jurisdiction if it wants to. The UK can make its own trade deals, with full freedom. NI benefits from these too. 6/
This deal is a chance to put this awful, Continuity-Remainer-induced, hate-filled, chaotic period behind us as a society, without degenerating into the political collapse & perhaps even violence that Continuity Remainers have been dragging us twds. 7/
The Spartans have been stunningly vindicated. They (& those who encouraged & supported them) were right. We didn't have to pass May's awful deal in order to leave the EU. There was something hugely better. The Brexit Party were right. Without them we'd still have May. 8/
The Brexit Party may yet have a key role. Parliament might refuse the deal. We may yet have to go for No Deal. In that case, the Brexit Party may well be the best party to vote for. 9/
But it's time to take the win, if we can. Boris' deal is enough. We should back it & back him. Destroy the dangerous, nihilistic Continuity's Remainer's hateful cause. Make it end. Pass the deal, & let's move on. /Ends
