For those MPs who agree with me that (whatever you think of it) Johnson’s deal, and the as yet unseen Bill implementing it, require the same detailed scrutiny that Eurosceptics rightly insisted on giving to the Maastricht and Lisbon legislation, here is the amendment for you.
The effect would be that there would be no motion unfer s1(1)(a) of the Benn Act and Johnson would have to ask for an extension, to give time for proper scrutiny.

Quite. Failure to publish the draft withdrawal agreement bill (in draft in a Whitehall drawer for a year) has been inexcusable bad government.
See this thread by @pauldalyesq from the beginning of the year but still on the nail.
Though note that the Eurosceptics mentioned have all apparently decided to forget their long-standing principled insistence on the importance of proper Parliamentary scrutiny of complex constitutional legislation and have their tummies tickled.

Again, important to distinguish types of amendments.
An amendment that required a change to the current WA provisions on length of transition (31/12/2020 in default but subject to agreement to further years) to a new default date would preclude ratification unless the EU immediately agreed.
But an amendment on Benn Act lines that required the Government to use its rights under the WA to request an extension (or to seek Parliament’s consent before not doing so) would not prevent ratification. And such a provision could be repealed by a new Parliament next year.

As long as a customs union provision wasn’t drafted so as to preclude ratification of the withdrawal agreement (for example like this) Johnson could accept it, ratify the WA, secure Brexit, and then hope to repeal it in a new Parliament after the election we all expect soon.
As I said yesterday, such things are written on water: they can be repealed by the next Act of Parliament. Nor does it matter in terms of ratification that such a provision would at some stage require a change to the political declaration: that is not binding hard law.

1. The case against Johnson's Deal is very strong. It puts us on course for a much harder Brexit than anyone envisaged in 2016. All serious economic projections suggest a substantial hit to GDP, household income and the public finances - and we all know who will bear the brunt.
2. The Deal is being sold on a lie: that it "gets Brexit done". In fact, it simply creates a new cliff edge at the end of 2020, when we will face the whole Deal/No Deal scenario again. If FTA negotiations founder, we'll have until July to request an extension: another cliff edge.

Claims that Brexit will make the UK richer. (Independent estimates are that Boris Johnson's version will knock 6.7% off GDP growth i.e. we'll grow by that much less than if we stayed)
Claims that this will "get Brexit done" (it won't - it will move us on to the second and much harder phase of Brexit, in which we have to reach a deal with the EU and others before we run out of transition time)

This is the third day of MPs taking control of parliamentary business. They are using it push through Yvette Cooper's bill on extending Article 50.

Interesting developments in the #Brexit front as government released yesterday plans on citizens’ rights in event of #NoDeal gov.uk/guidance/europ…
With this, we have now 2 clear scenarios in relation to team sport, football and @premierleague. Those players already in UK by 29/03, so signed before Thursday, should be allowed to stay in UK and have same rights as British players. No quotas for them or work permits.
In case of #NoDeal, clubs could sign European players after Brexit date, and those would have equal rights to British players, but only until January 1st 2021, at which point they will be subject to any new inmigration and quota scheme set by FA/Government.
