Populists are at their most dangerous when they are shrewd and strategic. Fortunately, Trump's misdeeds are cartoonishly obvious.

Folks, I never said we shouldn't condemn this decision as scandalous, or to take all available legal measures to stop his power grabs.
But believe me: People like Orban and Erdogan are way more dangerous because they are more shrewd and strategic, and much less cartoonish.
