Would he have gotten hacked if he didn't use their "security"?

No.
a. What should you use instead?

application-based authenticators

b. What if you can't use those?

1. Buy a SIM.

2. Keep the line active as cheap as you possibly can.

3. Keep the number private.

4. DON'T USE IT FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN 2FA.
What's the moral of all these sim-swapping stories?

hackers will use the easiest route available to them

Here at Gitmo's Camp Justice, the judge, Air Force Col. W. Shane Cohen, has opened today's 9/11 pretrial hearing. He notes that two of the five defendants are in court -- Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and his nephew Ammar al Baluchi.
As the judge takes attendance, chief prosecutor Brig. Gen. Mark Martins makes an announcement on this 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks: Relatives of 911 victims at Gitmo will be coming and going from the gallery behind the court, quietly, for private commemoration ceremonies.
The judge replies that whatever happens outside the court today has no 'bearing on any matter that will take place today.' He calls it 'inappropriate for me to take it in any further consideration.'

1. Thread. I watched the first two episodes of the new @HBO Israeli series Our Boys. It’s really well done. As a meditation on extremist violence and incitement it is terrifyingly relevant to contemporary America too.
The series centers around the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers in June-July 2014, Eyal Yifrach. Gilad Shaar, and Naftali Fraenkel and the subsequent kidnapping and murder of Arab teenager Mohammed Abu Khdeir.

Here's a brief rundown of how things work: h/t @TheLastRefuge2
1) DNC insiders (money people that you've never heard of) choose their nominee
2) A bunch of candidates join the race, some genuinely, others as part of the DNC plan
3) Candidates stake out special interest positions
4) Candidates collect voter support/data based on special interest positions
5) Debates are held, certain candidates are magnified, others ignored (this is coordinated with media)
6) Various candidates are highlighted over weeks and months (flavor of the month, again w/ media).
7) Primaries start and support is split among so many candidates
8) Candidates slowly drop out because they don't have money/support to continue
9) Drop out candidates turn over their voter data to the DNC (this is key)

Twitter seems to be banning or suspending accounts belonging to critics of the Chinese government. It started yesterday May 31th. Here is one report - I noticed a sudden loss of followers yesterday, I checked, it was mainly China critics. Twitter❤️🇨🇳 Amazing! @mouse @1GigiSims
This is happening as an effort to silence #China critics ahead of the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, which is next Tuesday. Twitter is helping China do its dirty work to silence the legitimate opposition. Twitter has hit a new all time low! 👎👎👎
One other possibility that can't be discounted is that the #Chinese government is hacking into Twitter and is deleting the accounts of Chinese critics. I did hear reports in the past, that Chinese hackers were able to get into Twitter & do that.

nytimes.com/2019/05/16/opi… This is a critical thing to understand. The idea that fetuses or embryos are “people” was basically invented for the purpose of opposing abortion, because anti-choicers knew they would lose if they were honest about their true intentions.
This is oversimplifying things a bit, but abortion was banned around the same time contraception was banned, and for the same reason: The rise of Victorian prudery, instigated by men like Anthony Comstock, who found the idea of sex for pleasure, even in marriage, revolting.
But the sexual revolution, which really was a lot longer than most people realize (the 20s to, oh, now) changed that. Most Americans started to have sex outside of marriage. Contraception bans were overturned. There really was no reason to keep banning abortion.
