Beautifully produced report by UNDP on inequality sdgs.undp.org/2019-inequalit…

But, it makes a lot of big claims, has very little numbers, and then the numbers are wrong.

Two examples:
– They suggest a 10 point increase in inequality in Italy! The source says 0.5 points.
They make this claim, but instead of linking to the OECD they link to the Guardian.

The OECD finds that incomes of the middle class grew less than those at the top. But they definitely don't say "there’s been a decline in living standards” as UNDP claims.

We have thousands of researchers who do very careful work, but when this research gets presented to policy makers and the public it is turned into a mess.

I find this very important and really problematic for making progress. And it is so very often the case.
