I have an idea so evil, so startling, that I'm afraid even uttering it might be upsetting to a great number of followers.

It just came to me out of nowhere.

I fear its power.

Shall I share it?
It occurred to me out of nowhere, just now, just a simple phrase, really.

But within that phrase lies our potential destruction.

All our ambitions and aspirations, and yet...all our hubris, as well.

I worry for a future where this might not be a passing fancy.
What is it, that causes me such dismay that I genuinely fear putting this idea out into a world that's proven it lacks the capacity to control its avarice?

What could cause a writer, a storyteller, to want to be silent, lest this idea become an utterance that can't be returned?

Someone please tell me how books published by Lexington (part of @RLPGBooks) count towards tenure.

I just finished an atrocious (polite description) book by a tenured professor on "Sexual Jihad." As if that's not bad enough, the book repeatedly refers to "Christian Yazidis."
@RLPGBooks Yazidis are not Christian by definition, guys. Yazidis are an ENTIRELY different religion - ethnic Kurds who speak Kurdish. Apostasy renders one outside the fold.

Does @RLPGBooks use peer review? It's appalling that this book was ever published, let alone counted for tenure.
@RLPGBooks In a meeting, so I can't savage the book in-depth right now, but let's put it this way -- the central thesis is that "women's roles in the Qur'an and Hadith" explain "women's roles in terrorism."

By a political scientist - zero expertise in MENA, Islam, or Arabic... of course.

Please watch this @ChuckTodd clip, from @jimmy_dore, on the Assange matter. I say this with all sincerity: the stupidity is overwhelming. Ask yourself this: if journalism is about exposing the bad acts of powerful factions, who has done more of that: Chuck or Julian Assange?
In terms of deciding who is and isn't a journalist, can someone please tell me what @ChuckTodd has done that is remotely comparable to WikiLeaks when it comes to the core acts of journalism? What makes Chuck Todd a "journalist" but not Assange? I'm asking earnestly.
Every self-proclaimed journalist who goes on TV or Twitter to pronounce Assange is "not a journalist" should compare the work they've done in exposing the bad & corrupt acts of powerful factions to what he's done in that regard & let us know what they find salon.com/2010/12/24/wik…

The first time I ever went abroad, I rode my bike around Ireland. One of the first nights I was there, I was staying in a hostel in Cashel, and I was talking to an older Irish lady who was traveling with her granddaughter, who was six or seven.
At one point the lady said something like "You're not the typical American tourist." To which I responded, "Yeah, I'm not wearing a fanny pack."

And I distinctly remember the look of horror and confusion that immediately came across the little girl's face.

Someone please tell me how @realDonaldTrump is abusing government power? Seriously. It's one of the common liberal memes. Did he send the IRS to target Tom Steyer? Did he bug journalists' phones? Did he spy on millions of citizens? Did he spy on his political opponents?
2. How is Trump abusing his power, continued: Did he vaporize U.S. citizens with drones, violating due process? Did he sell illegal firearms to drug cartels hoping they'd be used to kill Americans so he could repeal the Second Amendment?
3. How is Trump abusing his power, continued: Did deem whole industries destructive to the environment or exploitative for the financial gain of his friends? Has he violated the War Powers Resolution? Did he create a slush fund for his benefactors and call it a "Stimulus"?
