Cummings is actually talking sense to them right now, if they had the brain to see it.
The longer they leave it before an election, the worse it's going to be.
This isn't even worthy of discussion. Brexit is a ticking stunk bomb, and it is going to go off eventually.
If that happens in a minority government, the Tories will lose control of events. Then they will get an election in the middle of winter, in the middle of chaos.
Because the economy is going to react in all sorts of ways you can't foresee. Serious, Brexit is like a shitbomb waiting to go off in their face.
Cummings is right on this one. If the Tories don't grab the chance of an election right now, they will very quickly find themselves in a crisis, either right in the middle of Christmas, or in the death of winter.
Brexit is a vast, sucking swamp of shit, and if the Tories go one step further into it than they are now, they're finished. they will never make it to the other side, and the country will be lost.

If the Tories were paying a proper strategist, they would have started from the fact they've got no majority and that the law requires an extension,
So you assume the inevitable. You're going to get an extension by law, and you've got no majority. So when do you want the election?

You choose an election date and work backwards from there. They haven't done that or the election would be in November
The time of year, and the state their government is in, the worst is the longer they leave it.
If the election starts barging into December, the weather and Christmas will fuck it all up.
But if they leave it till January the government will stagnate for another three months.

It's running away from them now. They're about to lose November 28th.
After today the earliest election day will be December 5th.
And after that it's too late because all the halls are booked for Christmas.
See, they just do not think ahead. The extension is going to be useless now. The election won't come until January, and we'll need yet another extension to cover that.
Again and again I just end up mystified how they let this happen to themselves.
I mean, do none of them possess a calendar?

I know exactly what the problem is. People can't think.
They keep wanking on about governments of national unity, about referendums.
It takes about five seconds to see what the problem is.
It takes a long time to organise a referendum. You don't just need a majority one afternoon to "vote for it"
You need a government with a majority that will last for up to a year while the legislation goes through.
And you don't want this government of yours to involve either Boris Johnson or Jeremy Corbyn.
How stupid is that? Where the fuck do people think this government is coming from if neither party leader can be involved in it?

Now is time for clarity on the part of the EU regarding the status of the Withdrawal Agreement and the backstop. If it is really the case that they are not going to be renegotiated then that needs to be stated in unambiguous terms right now. IMO.

It was already clear after Johnson's trips to Berlin and Paris that he was going to use the positive mood music there to spike the guns of Tory rebels: how could you vote no confidence in a government actively negotiating on behalf of the country abroad?
Johnson is still at it and it may work: don't vote against me he'll say, since I'm trying to get the backstop removed & may well succeed. But if the EU is actually unwilling to remove the backstop then MPs who believe Johnson and vote accordingly are in fact voting for no deal.

THE MOST IMPORTANT WORDS Comey has said in the past year are the ones no one's talking about: ProPublica was right, McCabe *did* tell Comey there were Clinton emails on Weiner's PC *36 days before the election*. And Comey *ignored him* because "how could that be possible." (WTF?)
2/ So the "McCabe conspiracy" is disproven. Now the question is (a) why Comey didn't do due diligence when he was informed there was potential new evidence in one of the FBI's two biggest cases of this century, and (b) why no one in the NYC FBI worked on those emails for 24 days.
3/ So McCabe was telling his boss that a PC used by Clinton's top aide had Clinton emails on it, in the context of a case in which the allegation was a mishandling of emails.

*What investigator* would say "how could that be possible" under those circumstances? It's inexplicable.

There are a lot of prominent people, who claim to be principled anti-war activists, who led us to believe that Hillary was the *real* threat, that should be absolutely ashamed to show their faces right now. Yet they're all pretending like it never happened.
None of this is surprising if you were paying attention & weren't looking to confirm your biases that #actually Trump might not be so bad (not as bad as Killary). Most of us saw the threat in real time & called it out. It wasn't subtle.
It's just so incredibly frustrating bc it was all so predictable. You demanded that every journalist & pundit who predicted the election results incorrectly be disgraced; yet this was infinitely more consequential. And yet, you've taken zero responsibility for your actions.
