Lucia grew up in the foster care system. She said she has a Bernie tattoo on her forearm bc it’s where people in dispaor cut themselves. But Bernie, she said, “says despair is not an option. So he motivated me. He keeps me focused. He keeps me fired up— do know I’m not a loser. 
"It really is hard for us foster kids, & Bernie has been fighting for us the whole time. Like he's been fighting for our parents -alot of us didn't want to get taken away from our parents. We were only taken away bc our parents were the working poor and couldn't take care of us."

I also spoke to Will Vanguard -- a 3 time Iraq war veteran. "I've spent alot of my years of my life on the wrong side of things, and I feel like Bernie's an opportunity for me to right my karma in a sense"
He & his partner are on a 10,000 mile road trip for Bernie. "Bernie's the only one on the state that has voted against every single one of Trump's military budgets. He's the only one who voted against the Iraq war. He's the one that we can trust to end the war machine."
