The protests in Pittsboro seem to be uniting the far-right. This weekend included people from League of the South, Proud Boys, The Hiwaymen, ACTBAC, and Heirs to the Confederacy. The first three of these marched in Charlottesville at the original Unite the Right event in 2017.
Representing League of the South was Jessica Reavis, seen here with ACTBAC member, Laura Ray Pennington.
Also attending were two Proud Boys, Jay Thaxton and Jeremy "Onitreb" Bertino, seen here with former Carrboro police officer, Bob Murdaugh.
From the Heirs to the Confederacy was Lance Spivey (carrying two handguns), Michael Mieczkowski, R. David King, and Tommy "Strawberry" Parnell.
The Hiwaymen there included Frankie Harper (seen here chatting with Woody Elvin Weaver), Jimmy Staton, and Kevin Asbury. The Lady Hiwaymen also had representation there.
In addition to Laura Ray Pennington, ACTBAC member Steve Marley showed up.
With relatively few counter-protesters this weekend to argue with across the street, these far-right groups mingled, shook hands, and spent much of the day getting to know each other. They seem to be putting aside differences and rallying around Pittsboro as a common cause.
Additional photos from the day are available in this album. flic.kr/s/aHsmHYoik9
Not pictured in the graphic above but also in Pittsboro yesterday was the Sons of Confederate Veterans. SCV member Matthew McGuigan is seen next to one of the Proud Boys.
