Pelosi's the consummate pro, but to me, hurrying impeachment to avoid the election season (instead of delaying it to COINCIDE with electioneering) seems like the diametrically wrong approach, for several reasons:

@ameliatd 1. Since the Senate almost certainly will acquit, why NOT use the hearings as election ads?
2. If Pelosi thinks the Senate MIGHT convict, why give Rs time to hold primaries + run a new candidate (Romney?) who takes anti-Trump sentiment off the table as an election issue?

@ameliatd 3. Finishing impeachment undercuts many of the lawsuits currently underway to obtain other evidence that could sway voters' minds (eg, tax returns). Congress is at its most powerful now; why give that away?

I'm not seeing the logic; does anyone else?
