Pelosi's the consummate pro, but to me, hurrying impeachment to avoid the election season (instead of delaying it to COINCIDE with electioneering) seems like the diametrically wrong approach, for several reasons:

2. If Pelosi thinks the Senate MIGHT convict, why give Rs time to hold primaries + run a new candidate (Romney?) who takes anti-Trump sentiment off the table as an election issue?

@ameliatd 3. Finishing impeachment undercuts many of the lawsuits currently underway to obtain other evidence that could sway voters' minds (eg, tax returns). Congress is at its most powerful now; why give that away?

@Lowes 2/ On the Google store (pics below), it's pretty obvious: the thermostat is just a thermostat, and the thermostat AND SENSOR (which is a separate device you can it into a different room to track its temperature) is... a thermostat AND a sensor. But is it the same with @Lowes?

In "On the Quai in Smyrna" (in full below), Ernest Hemingway wrote about one event in the Armenian Genocide: the 1922 fire + massacre of Greeks and Armenians in Smyrna (now Izmir). It's painfully brilliant, one of Hem's best.

But here's the thing:

Smyrna happened bec. Western powers broke commitments they made (in the 1920 Treaty of Sèvres) to support Greece, Armenia, and Kurdistan. genocide-museum.am/eng/30.09.2017….
In the later Treaty of Lausanne, Greeks, Kurds + Armenians lost lands they had been promised just 3 years earlier.

So yes, modern Turkey was born in part from a genocide it (damnably) still refuses to admit. But the genocide Congress recognized today happened because the major powers LET it happen. We made promises to defend Greeks, Armenians, + Kurds, then broke those promises.

I'm not going to mince words: The Dem leadership is on track to botch 2020 and re-elect Trump.

Nearly 2 dozen presidential candidates, instead of recruiting strong senate challengers.

DCCC blacklisting progressives.

#Impeachment turned into a farce of dithering and delay.
Trump's favorables are rising and he's raising boatloads of money.

#Nadler and #Pelosi are still groping around for "evidence" to support #impeachment while Trump and Miller and Pence and McConnell promote #WhiteNationalism.

All the while, immigrant children are abused...
Trump has lied TWELVE THOUSAND TIMES.

He has disgraced his office. He has engaged in #StochasticTerrorism against people of color. He has called the media "enemies of the people."

His presidency is an affront to human dignity. But Dem leaders can't find the spine to oppose him.

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.

1. I am so sick of hearing that the ONLY reason Trump should be impeached is if he conspired with a foreign power to steal the election. Let's remove that entire smokescreen and look at impeachment as a tool and why Trump needs to be impeached EVEN WITHOUT conspiracy allegations.
