“We need the whistleblower’s identity” is a conspiracy theory along the same lines of “we need to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation,” based on the premise that any facts uncovered are somehow invalid if the people who uncovered them disliked @realDonaldTrump. 2/
The common idea driving both conspiracy theories is a lack of comprehension of / distaste for the very concept of a professional non-political civil service.
