/8 Diary of a Heartbroken Betocrat: As I come to terms with Beto leaving the race, I think I am going to be supporting Kamala Harris. I don't expect to have the personal connection with any other candidate that I had with Beto, but pragmatism tells me Harris is the best choice.
/8 My personal connection with Beto came from being his constituent, knowing all the good he did in our community, and watching his Texas race up close. I also felt he was the best person for the job who offered the widest path to the White House and could win back the Senate.
/8 That is why I am now deciding to support .@KamalaHarris. My belief is that we must think about 2020 strategically. With the new census will come new maps. In the wake of SCOTUS abdicating any oversight and gutting the VRA, we need to perform in as many states as possible.
/8 The GOP will gerrymander to the extremest extent possible in the states they control. That brings me to Kamala Harris. I think the keys in this election are turning out young voters and people of color. Kamala Harris is the only candidate remaining I am confident can do that.
/8 Frankly, policy just isn't that important to me. They're all better on policy than the GOP. All seem to want to make this country a better place. Consequently, I need to ask who can win it all. Kamala can. She has the right combination of attributes to get the job done.
/8 Her youth, vigor, emotional intelligence, and prosecutorial background will be key to defeating Trump. Moreover, she's a very intelligent person who has experience in Congress and California's executive branch. If there's an Obama remaining in the race, it's Kamala Harris.
/8 However, in terms of policy, I think Kamala is closest to Beto in terms of a center-left approach. Her healthcare plan is better than the Bernie/Warren plan, and she shares Beto's passion on guns. It is also clear that social justice issues are near and dear to her heart.
/8 All in all, I think Kamala is the strongest candidate left, I think she's the one most similar to Beto, and I think she gives us the best chance of winning it all. I also hope Kamala will consider Beto for VP. #BetoForever #KamalaForThePeople #Kamala2020 #KamalaHarris
