4/ I'm ashamed that in the United States, we have not protested with the sense of urgency and vigor as do our sisters and brothers in Hong Kong, Chile, Iraq, Lebanon, Ecuador, and so many other countries...
5/ We must not allow anything to distract us from the great injustices of the world. We must stay focused. We must persevere. We must not become distracted. We must fight for ourselves and especially for those who have no ability to fight...
6/ Those athletes who use their notoriety to protest and remind us of these injustices — the Sean Doolittles of the World, the Billie Jean Kings, the Tommie Smiths/John Carloses, the Kathrine Switzers, the Mohammed Alis, the Megan Rapinoes, the Aly Raismans, ...
7/ ...the Colin Kaepernicks, the Arthur Ashes, and countless others — these are the only true sports heroes — for their strength transcends the field of competition, gives us strength, and remind us of our shared humanity.
