Victory on our fight to defend the rights of migrant children in San Antonio! 🎉

Those commissioners who voted the right way have denied Vision Quest the ability to open a for-profit children’s detention center in the city.
Vision Quest has a history of abuse towards innocent young migrants and we are grateful to the commissioners for making the move.
Thank you to our local partners SA Stands, TOP, @MOVE_texas , Innovation Law Lab and our RAICES staff for leading on this fight.

Sergio's #DACA had expired, but he'd started the reapplication process & wasn't worried.

Then ICE agents ambushed him & took him behind an abandoned Walmart, stripping him of his things.

The reason? His tweets. ICE punished him for being an activist.

Sergio was grabbed and taken to a cell where he spent 43 days watching as the FBI, ICE, & USCIS investigated every aspect of his life.

They questioned his neighbors & combed through his social media presence, looking to build a criminal case against him.
This isn't the first time the federal gov. has targeted a #DACA activist.

There are 1,600 people sleeping in tents in Matamoros, a city the State Dept. lists as the highest level of danger for frequent kidnappings, murders, sexual assaults etc.

Juana is one of them. She was sent back here w/her husband & 4 m/o baby, w/nothing but a bag of paperwork.
She tried to seek asylum in the US. CBP turned her away under Remain in Mexico, sending her back across the border as night fell—no aid, no instructions on how to survive, little idea why this was happening.

The family was shocked to be sent back. They hadn't prepared for this.
Her baby has a fever & no access to medical services. They had nowhere to sleep when they arrived in the tent encampment. It was only b/c volunteers & fellow migrants found them food & a tent that they've been able to survive.

The infrastructure isn't there to care for them.

Maria is 27. She fled Honduras w/her husband & two kids. Gangs threatened her brother, endangering her family.

On her way to seek asylum, she was kidnapped in Mexico. Her father paid thousands to release her.

Now she's back in Mexico, courtesy of the US.

Oh, & she's pregnant.
Maria is one of 50,000 people sent back under the Remain in Mexico policy.

She's living in a tent city w/1,600 others in Matamoros, a dangerous city in a dangerous state, marked by the State Dept. as "Level 4: Do Not Travel," where kidnappings, murder, sexual assault are common.
So let's be clear: A *pregnant woman* who was already kidnapped in Mexico after fleeing violent gangs was sent back to live in a squalid encampment w/her kids.

CBP gave her no chance to properly explain her situation. This is how the US treats pregnant women fleeing danger.

We need look no further than #UkraineGate as the basis with which to impeach Trump.

That said, for many Americans Trump's extortion of Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election won't be enough to turn the impeachment dial.
Trump's obstruction of justice will also not be *quite* enough. Neither will the endless contacts with Russians, the caging of children, the praise of dictators, the racism, the bullying and so on.

Perhaps no Trump-created atrocity will ever be enough for these people.
For whatever reason - their Fox News-fueled hatred of Democrats, their fear of immigrants, their glee at the surge of newly-appointed conservative judges, their odd affinity for red baseball caps -
