If you don't have a system that allows you to remain objective you will end up losing money.
Here is a simplified way you can use to test your next product (Ideally $30-$50 product)
It's really important that you find a unique product, not something that's saturated like a light up dog collar.
If you are picking something that is competitive make sure you have a unique angle that will set you apart from others.
Whether it's on @Shopify or @clickfunnels build a simple/clean one product store.
Don't go crazy or overboard with the store, less is more.
In my experience using a one product store to test helps increase conversion rates.
Very easy setup and if you don't know how to do this Google it!
It's very important that you have the pixel on your site before you start getting any kind of traffic.
Prospection: $75 Daily total budget across 3 broad interest related to your product niche.
Create 6 ads and have those same 6 ads under each 3 ad sets.
3 different creative types + 2 different copy variations = 6 ads
You don't really have much traffic coming to your site so you can keep your budget small.
$15 for your daily budget, just targeting website visitors for now.
Spend a max total of $200 dollars on a few IG shoutouts from accounts in your product niche.
If you breakeven on these shoutouts, it's a really good sign.
Wait a minimum of 24 hours before even thinking about making changes.
Cut obvious losing ad sets/ads and replace with new tests.
Double down on obvious winning audiences or ad angles.
Then wait another 24 hours.
After 2-3 days after launching your ads, if you are not close to breakeven on your FB ads, STOP!
"But what if the ads start working tomorrow"
Trust me I've been there, make the hard stop and start the process over. It will save you money in the long run.
If you did see some success, continue to scale your ads.
Start taking steps to turn it into a real brand. Look to order products in bulk from Alibaba and send to a 3PL.
Trust me, you make much more money this way compared to a dropshipping store.
