Just read a tweet from a Very Serious health policy "wonk" saying he doesn't think #MedicareForAll will happen in his lifetime. Really?! I disagree. We can make it happen. We can make it happen within the first term of the next president. The status quo is a humanitarian crisis!
Think about what happened after 3,000 Americans died on September 11th. Think about how quickly we changed how our government works -- think of all the policies and bureaucracies that changed. Well, *35,000* Americans will die this year from our health care non-system!
The proper conceptual framework for understanding our status quo health care situation is that of a *humanitarian crisis,* the kind of framework one would use to conceive of health care in a failing state or a country at war.

Yes, if you ignore 35,000 deaths and 530,000 medical bankruptcies -- lives destroyed -- it's easy to say #MedicareForAll won't happen soon. But, if you recognize the gravity of the crisis we face, you can only think one thing: we must pass #MedicareForAll as soon as possible.
A president committed to ending this crisis -- this atrocity! -- would use every tool possible to guarantee health care to every American as quickly as possible. Of the Democratic candidates, I think only @BernieSanders -- and maybe @ewarren -- understands the crisis we face.
So, don't tell me that #MedicareForAll won't happen in 40 or 50 years. It can happen. It must happen. We must urgently act to save 35,000 American lives from unnecessary death. <END>
