That our government can’t even figure out how to regulate *ambulances* speaks to the appallingly low quality of governance in this country and the enormity of its corruption problem

Ambulances don’t bankrupt people in normal countries

Politicians should be able to stop this
We have public servants negotiating contracts with ambulance providers that allow them to basically defraud patients with surprise bills. This is insane.
Over half of Americans requesting an ambulance ride will get a surprise bill. Again, this is insane. This is systematic fraud and corruption. What good is government if it doesn't protect citizens when they are so vulnerable that they need an ambulance ride?
In the United States, politicians think local government should be able to engage in predatory financial behavior, ripping off sick and injured people. What is wrong with this country?
California, a Democratic state. We literally have Democrats unwilling -- or unable -- to stop *public ambulance providers* from ripping off citizens. To repeat myself, again: this is insane.
