Every time someone thirst posts pictures of Kristen Stewart to the timeline it makes me crave pizza rolls.
I was today years old when I learned that the Kristen Stewart Totino's commercial was actually the capstone to an annual trilogy of sketches, the second of which worked as well as a horror trailer as the final one did as a lesbian indie flick.

Good comedy writing is just... so good. Here's an interview with the writers about how the sketches came to be.

So, this is a good thread and the phenomenon it's talking about is very real.

However, I have to recite my usual maxim here: no cause with just one effect and no effect with just one cause.

There is (or may be, for you) something special about Comic Sans.

I regularly adjust my font size (or switch Word to web view and zoom in) to get to the sweet spot being described, but I still switch to Comic Sans sometimes when I'm having a hard time finding the flow of creativity, and the results are pretty reliably great.
If I left this thread here and walked away, somebody would pop up to tell me it's a placebo. Guess what? There's no such thing as a psychological placebo. The placebo effect is a psychological effect... if you're using it for something mental, it's not a placebo. It's working.

Straw bans are garbage. "Real sad about a picture of a turtle and way too happy to dump on disabled people." isn't a principled moral stance. I will block people who want to argue. Including "just asking question" and "why not simply". Search engines are free.
If you want to eliminate plastic straws, fund research into alternatives *that do the exact work they do* (same flexibility, same resilience, same conductivity) and consult disabled people who rely on straws as you do it.
It's not the special job of disabled people to take on burdens to save the environment, and any "but surely they can make an exception if you need it" thinking doesn't survive contact with the real world.

I was today-years-old when I learned that the nickname “Chip” is often a colloquial form of “Junior,” as in, “a chip off the ol’ block.”
It was also today — okay, last night — that I learned people don’t pronounce the “l” in “yolk?” Is that true? How do you pronounce the word “yolks,” as in, “egg yolks?”
(I pronounce the L, but in a soft, swallowed pronunciation — not a hard YOLLLLK but I don’t lose it, either?)

The Lady Gaga apology is disappointing. I like the action of removing the song from streaming, and I'm in her corner as far as the Oscar race, but if she was going to wait that long to make a public statement, it could've been so much stronger
And when I say "wait this long," I'm not referring to the past two weeks-ish. I'm talking years. There are plenty of rope-a-dopes who can claim ignorance of R's allegations until very recently and I'd believe them. She is not one.
I DO believe it's possible she was insulated from the discourse on Twitter surrounding the #SurvivingRKelly airing, possibly working on a new project or getting each strand of her hair individually dyed to match her Globes gown or whatever she was doing. So I don't mean this week
