Impeachment is a POLITICAL act. You can, if you control the House of Representatives, impeach a person pretty much for ANY reason. The Constitution states "Treason, Bribery or other High crimes and misdemeanors" this covers almost EVERYTHING.
The framers intentionally used the vague term "high crimes and misdemeanors" to cover any unexpected reason, like abuse of power, (misdemeanors) while at the same time stating it should be serious (High crimes). The two terms together connotes a warning that Impeachment
...because it's a POLITICAL act should only be taken for the most serious of reasons. However, since it's a POLITICAL act that gives ultimate power to Congress it's not limited.
It's the same reason that people like Thomas Paine used the phrase that government even in the best of times is a "necessary evil".

You have to use both words to get the full meaning. Many on the right forget that government is necessary and many on the left forgets it's evil.
The Dems have clearly misinterpreted impeachment by not grasping this dual meaning the framers highlighted and they are failing epically because of it.

Just because you have the power to do something and you want to do it doesn't mean you should.
The Dems have allowed their hate for President Trump to blind them to the fact that impeachment should only be used in the most serious circumstances Treason etc (the high crimes part). 🍊 man bad MIGHT be a misdemeanor (bad behavior or conduct), but there are no High Crimes.
Since Impeachment is a POLITICAL act or the excise of ultimate power, in a Representative Republic that means you need the PEOPLE behind you. You can't get a large enough % of the people behind you using just a narrative.
There has to be an underlying event based on reality to the Narrative and 🍊 man bad can only take you so far. Hence the effort to manufacture collusion, obstruction, bribery narratives but without the actual events occurring they only have the Narrative and that's not enough.
Impeachment was meant to be the last line of defense for the Congress as the representatives of all the PEOPLE to remove a corrupt or out of control President, VP, civil officers or life term judges. The Dems have tried to use it as a first line of defense once they gained power.
In their Hubris they wrongly believed they since they had the power they should use the power to get what they wanted not what a supermajority of the people wanted. They doubled down on their hubris by thinking they didn't need a real HIGHCRIME but could use some legal trickery
That a large minority or a very small majority would be enough to "push" it through. Their hubris will be their downfall as hubris has been the downfall of most throughout history.

The Dems answer to this problem?

Bring in more lawyers to a political fight. Should end well🙄🙄
