You’re seeing the damage that can be done to American grand strategy and statecraft when the president cares only for himself and his ego. Look at how fever swamp conspiracy theories came to direct US foreign policy in an ally under Russian occupation! Gah.
The president has every right to hire and fire ambassadors in order to have a team that will carry out his policies. But can we please stop pretending that *that's* what was going on here?
Also, "the president has the right by law to do that" isn't a response to "it was a bad move." This is like when conservatives criticize a company's business decision and lefties jump in with "oh I thought conservatives loved the free market!" Something can be legal and bad.
