When a mafia goon says “nice store, it’d be a shame if anything happened to it” as a follow-up to another mafia goon asking for “tax,” the person on the receiving end understands without someone saying “I’m demanding money and if I don’t get it I’ll burn down your store.”
The goons don’t need to state: “I am hereby extorting you. I am hereby asking you for a bribe. This is a quid pro quo.” They know; the victim knows. If this is the bar to clear, I guess the GOP thinks every bribery/extortion case in existence needs to be re-opened.

Wow. Vindman: doing what I’m doing right here, right now, would be a death sentence in Russia.
After listening to Williams, it’s clear that Pence either 1. knows and puts extraordinary effort into keeping his hands clean or 2. is an idiot unable to recognize a conspiracy to keep a cone of ignorance over his head. Both are extremely dangerous.
Vindman is not invoking the fifth in refusing to out the whistleblower. He’s following law.
