Not a shred of evidence has ever emerged showing that Roger Stone had special access to WikiLeaks. Was that made clear in the coverage of yesterday's verdict? Or did journalists instead launch into a celebratory stupor, ignoring that the entire Russia narrative had just collapsed
I get the "schadenfreude" in enjoying that Roger Stone, probably the most notorious dirty political trickster in the country, is going to prison. But this was the marquee trial of the Mueller investigation, and its outcome totally undermined the whole point of the investigation
You'd think that would be worth emphasizing, so the public can better understand the shambolic nature of an investigation that completely consumed the country for 2+ years -- but journalists would rather giddily shriek with joy
The US media will never truly reckon with the massive failures of the Trump/Russia saga. Instead, they'll latch onto anything that covers up or misdirects from those failures. And then they'll act shocked when the next massive failure comes down the pike
