Really annoys me how many summaries of the first episode of The Mandalorian wrote that the title character had a change of heart. No, the job was to bring the target in alive preferably, so the droid having different instructions meant they were working different jobs.
I haven't seen episode 2, I had been waiting for my household to catch up before I started tweeting abuot it.
It's not just a bigger payout; the droid's client must be someone else entirely (contradictory instructions),, so the "split the reward" thing wouldn't have worked out.
