Phew, what a week! We managed to:

- attend #EPhearings2019
- rinse the PM's plans on French TV
- meet with senior UK & NI officials to talk Brexit
- AND make a new TV show from scratch (and a star out of @naomi_long)

As ever, find all this and more below in our weekly thread 👇
But from the start, we've wanted to make sure that our team is working for the people of Northern Ireland above everything else.

This week we were able meet with representatives of @cfilni who were in Brussels for @ENIL_EU's Freedom Drive.
We also talked to @NICVA and other community groups to make sure that we can make the most of Naomi's platform here in Brussels.

We'll get to Brexit in a moment, but it's been good to work on the issues that haven't gone away amidst the chaos in Westminster.
@POLITICOEurope published a rather nice profile on @naomi_long this week. It's an early sign that Naomi's presence has been noticed here in the "Brussels Bubble".

Nice mention of the Glider in there too.

Actually, it's not just the Brussels media who are keen to talk to @naomi_long - here's a great piece that was published in the Swedish national paper Svenska Dagbladet and syndicated across Sweden!

How's your Swedish?

After the success of hosting the first cross-party hearing on Brexit last week, we were wondering how to keep the conversations going.

We decided to take advantage of the facilities at the Parliament so pulled together a TV show, @SharedFutureEU, in two days!

Here's the titles:
So amidst the Brexit leaks and border plans, @naomi_long invited @FitzgeraldFrncs and @TheresaMEP for a chat.

They didn't hold back from dismissing Johnson's proposals, but we were also really pleased with how much each MEP's personality shone through.

The format of @SharedFutureEU was perfect for a mix of personal & political, with intense policy discussions, personal history and hopes for the future.

@naomi_long smashed it too.

Really looking forward to making more!

Watch the first episode here:
This week was also the start of #EPhearings2019 - when the European Parliament gets to scrutinise @vonderleyen's picks for who will be proposing the EU's policies over the next five years.

@naomi_long attended the hearing of Commissioner-Designate for Equality, @helenadalli
It was also just a regular week at the Parliament, in the midst of everything else.

The PM announced his new proposals for an alternative to the backstop this week, and @naomi_long didn't mince her words.

They were picked up at home and abroad, in The Guardian, Foreign Policy, Forbes...

Even IZVESTIA in Russia got in touch...
Our media work has a real impact on the ongoing Brexit developments, with the Parliament's Brexit Steering Group taking notice of Naomi's comments on the impact of the border proposals in their own statement.

Even Eamonn Holmes wanted to hear from Naomi:

That evening @naomi_long was invited onto French television to debate the proposals, using the opportunity to speak directly to President Macron and the members of his party who have real influence over Brexit.

Then it was straight back to the Parliament to speak to @Channel4News and call out Arlene Foster and the DUP

It's been really important for us to speak to a combination of local, national and European media while in Brussels, as our work here has an impact on all levels of Government.

It's also been important to keep in constant contact with our colleagues in the @RenewEurope group such as @fabienne_keller from France who as alarmed at what @naomi_long told her about the impact of Brexit in Northern Ireland.

This week was also a chance to meet with another @RenewEurope colleague, @AntonyHookMEP of the @LibDems, who asked Naomi if she could update his constituents in the South East of England on the new Brexit proposals.

We were also delighted to welcome Grace and her mum Donnamarie of @WBelfastAPNI for a week of work experience.

They attended committees and sat in on important meetings, and we couldn't have made @SharedFutureEU without Grace's input.

Excited to see what Grace does in future!
OK so that'll have to do for now.

Next week it's more #EPhearings2019, more @SharedFutureEU and more making sure you are heard in the European Parliament!

Thanks for all your support. We notice it 💛
PS:

👀 Don't forget to watch @SharedFutureEU over the weekend...

👂 It's even on Spotify now so you can listen on the go!
