1. There are 351 days until the presidential election and Facebook's policy to allow politicians to lie in ads is already a disaster

2. The Trump campaign is regularly running ads on Facebook that feature claims that have been debunked by Facebook's third-party fact-checkers.

Like this ad which claims the Mueller Report was a "total exoneration" for Trump

3. Facebook says that it will fact check political ads by non-candidates. But it's approving ads w/blatant lies. Facebook approved an ad by a PAC that made it seem like Obama was encouraging blacks not to vote for Democrats.

4. Facebook doesn't use humans to vet any of these ads. It relies on algorithms that are unable to identify misinformation. It's plan is to rely on others to catch the lies and then (possibly) take action after the fact. But by then it's much too late. popular.info/p/open-season

5. Facebook is a $500 billion company that accepts money to spread misinformation. There is too much at stake to turn the other way.

That's why I'm spending time doing what Facebook won't do.
