The Politico story was based on a HPSCI Dem leak of Fiona Hill's testimony. And it was about as accurate a reflection of what Hill said as the HPSCI Dem leak to CNN about the Don Jr. email.
Hill testified that she suspected that Kash Patel was talking to Trump about Ukraine. She made clear that she didn't know if Patel met w/ Trump, or what Patel was up to. But Politico reported Hill's testimony as confirmation that Patel met with Trump. Patel denied, and is suing.
NYT published a piece on Patel almost simultaneously to Politico's, but theirs was much more nuanced, which might be why they aren't being sued. nytimes.com/2019/10/23/us/…

NBC News hyped this story last week, after a "John Doe 42" claimed in a class-action lawsuit that he complained to Jordan and OSU's former head wrestling coach about an encounter he had in the '90s w/ Dr. Richard Strauss.
But the referee, who is extremely anti-Trump, posted on social media last year that he did not know if Jim Jordan was ever told of abuse allegations against Strauss.

Before Trump came along, the referee called Jordan "one of the good guys" and supported his campaign.

So, I ran across a retweet of the below tweet and it immediately raised flags. Puffing up a witness has a reason, so decided to go look for the documentation behind it, since it had a direct quote. Didn't take long - few minutes and NPR coughed it up (will link at the end)./1
About puffing someone up - the reason is to try to give the person credibility, their views more weight than they should be given, and to set them above someone they are in disagreement with. In this case, also to elicit support due to his medal./2
In the case of the tweet, it is immediately followed by the statement "speaking out against the command-in-chief." (you're suppose to gasp here I think)

Then "the reason" is given - people kept telling him he needed to speak up (be sure to ignore other possible reasons)./3

3. Proper ‘Desi Ghee ‘ was expensive & Lever Brothers, now Unilever (Hindustan Unilever in India), knew there was a market for a substitute for desi ghee, since many Indians could barely afford Ghee in those days 😨
