1/ I decided to use the softbank wework deck as a teaching opportunity of how to more clearly communicate your message using slides.

I've re-made about 10 slides. Let me know what you think!

*A thread*
2/ You always want to set the context up front so that people have a good sense of the story:
3/ In your title of the slide, you want to minimize the number of words you are using to improve your clarity of thinking
4/ Alternatively, you can use images and pair them with specific language to really make a powerful message
5/ Always clearly explain in the title what is happening.

Another good thing to do is tell the audience what different coloring might mean (e.g. red = bad)
6/ Get the audience to agree with something they already agree with and then use that to share your message.
7/ Never be afraid of sending a low-paid analyst away to their cube until they dig up positive information. You always want to have at least one chart (ideally up front) sharing positive information.
8/ One of the best tools in the consulting toolkit is the "illustrative" chart. Don't be afraid to pair a illustrative chart with some positive colors (green, blues) to hammer your message home.
9/ Don't be afraid to deliver the hard truth even when it hurts to say it:
10/ Add as many footnotes as you need to CYA (cover your ass) in case someone questions it. Also practice your response if people challenge you:

"yeah we thought you'd ask that. as you see in the footnote, these are illustrative"

"did you say illustrations?"

"..."
11/ A repeat lesson, but remember! Always pair words with images that reinforce the message.
12/ You can share the post here with all the tips! strategyu.co/redesigning-so…
