I didn’t want to put this in anyone’s timeline yesterday but... as I was coming home from working out on thanksgiving morning two white supremacists wearing what appeared to be nazi type garb were walking down my street in downtown DC. Like...no biggie. Just strolling along.
They got a few stares. Some head turns. But they DEFINITELY seemed comfortable. My area, once comprised of mostly Black folks, is now very intersectional. It’s a process to normalize these things. First, the president gives them a welcoming wink nearly every damn time he speaks..
Then it’s a piece in the NYT telling us how a white supremacists likes Seinfeld 🤦🏽♀️(why? I DGAF). Then they incite one off violent moments to test the waters. Then they’re walking down the street in broad daylight. What comes next? Something dangerous and violent is percolating
in our nation. And across the globe. If we don’t get ahead of it, it will destroy us all. Seeing these two men yesterday did not make me fear for my life. But definitely made me feel I need to be more vigilant about protecting it. Because, again, what comes next? We need to make
these ppl uncomfortable. Hate should not be tolerated, normalized, or given a platform anywhere. And if you’re one of these #MAGA sycophants still claiming to not be racist, you should ask yourself why you’re on the same side as the people who proudly declare that they are.
