Don't know what a simple or minimal trade agreement is as I never came across one.

I do know that if a government doesn't spend time finding out, in detail, what businesses need from a trade agreement, it won't help them that much.

Johnson is saying here that the joint committee of a UK-EU trade deal should manage any divergence between UK and EU rules, and adjust market access accordingly.

Far from a trade deal by next December this would mean never-ending uncertainty.
This statement isn't out of the blue - there's definitely some thinking in the UK that the trade deal we do with the EU next December is just a framework for further discussions. That's probably the only way you can get agreement in 11 months. There would be implications though.
Most obviously such a framework agreement probably keeps us tied much closer to the EU than most of the Conservative Party would want. Also major democratic oversight implications. But these are the discussions to come.

@DCBMEP Start with goods tariffs, and I agree with this completely - keeping full quota and tariff free access between EU and UK is not going to be easy, and fishing will be an issue... 2/

Alex is right.

Though of course the whole point of a UK-US trade deal to certain Brexiteer ultras is to cement divergence from the EU in areas like food standards (and there's big money behind this from the US)
Though I'd take issue with the statement "The US may offer the biggest prizes" - I don't think a trade deal with the US offers that much to the UK economically because we already have such a strong trading relationship, and the US doesn't offer much extra in trade deals

A word about the rash of hit pieces on the Kamala campaign. First let me say I’m a political scientist. And my entire adult life I have worked directly in politics from the electoral and/or policy apparatus side and studied politics from the academic perspective...
From those standpoints I will say, it’s not unusual for the media to pick it’s darlings for an election cycle, those they ignore, and those they tend to cover from a negative perspective. What is unusual here is the sheer volume of pieces this early in the process

"You can't come, TehTeh," Jeongguk tells him as he packs his little Cinnamoroll backpack, putting in the most vital essentials of survival.

Colouring pencils, his DS, spare pair of undies, three different kinds of lollipops and a plastic fork.

He's always prepared.
"Why not?" Taehyung squeaks, his own Pompompurin backpack hanging limp in his hand.

Jeongguk adds a pack of stickers, just in case. Never know when you're gonna need them.

He sighs, conflicted. This is tough.

He needs to be delicate about this. "They don't like you."

Okay.
"They don't like me?" Taehyung repeats. "Why not?"

"They think you're scarwy." Jeongguk sighs.

Taehyung processes that, looking down at himself. He looks at his sharp black claws and and tongues over his fangs.

Pft.

He /knows/ he looks cuddly.

Big companies typically have their own in-house legal teams.
However, such lawyers are not allowed to appear in court, nor is it a good idea because litigators in specific courts have better knowledge of what works and what doesn’t before a certain judge. So big companies are always hiring litigators for all their litigation related work.
