'Asked how she and Paul took on life after turning 70, Rhoda said "I am his ears and he is my eyes."' And we sing Malibongwe. #RhodaJoemat #Memorial.
Cde Mcebisi Skwatsha says he never saw cde Rhoda without a smile. Shares that Rhoda was giving the nurses trouble. Nurses accused her of being rebellious. Yeah, right! She was insisting on having a cigarette. It as her one vice, she said.
And then we have a power cut. Mcebisi continues his tribute to Aunty Rhoda, a people's person. The generator outside kicks in. He mentions that on this 6th anniversary of Maria's passing it is noteworthy that Aunty Rhoda did not do this for personal glory, he says.
Maria's? Madiba's. Sorry.
The priest says that Aunty Rhoda had a taxi mentality>>. She always had place for 1 more at their table.
Goes on to refer to the tall tree they had in their front garden. It was a landmark. A beacon. But a tree also bears fruit not just for itself but for others. So too Rhoda and Paul lived.
Priest mentions that the grandchildren asked why she had died before Christmas? What about our cards and gifts? He answered that it was Death who took her. And one of the young ones said, Death is rude! #RhodaJoemat #Memorial.
@RowenaJoe Rowena does the thanks. She said love shown by all has kept them together. Her dad is doing well. Rowena thanks everyone for loving her mom. Says the legacy of her mom is less important than what we do going forward. The one thing she learned from her mom:To give.
