I'm sad for Kanye. I'm thrilled he's a brother in the Lord, but I'm sad that Christian leaders are placing him on large platforms as a new Christian b/c of his secular celebrity. There's a reason the Bible warns not to make novices leaders (1 Tim. 3:6).

I'm especially concerned that evangelical groups and leaders who now appear to embrace him and to use his celebrity may be nowhere to be found if the brother were ever to fall (may God forbid it). Offering someone a platform is very different from offering them a community.

Kanye continues to need discipleship and Christian community, away from the peering eyes of the celebrity-obsessed and exploitative. Surely his life is filled with enough of that from his secular pursuits. I pray my brother succeeds in every way. But I'm concerned for him.
