It seems to me that we are increasingly watching politics unfold rather than doing anything in particular to influence them.

We’re watching the impeachment proceedings. We’re largely watching the primaries with a lulled “vote blue no matter who”.

This has me worried.

1/

We won the midterms because we worked our asses off.

Yet, right now, we’re having the life sucked out of us by an increasingly passive, draining hyper-focus on our TVs and newsfeeds.

2/

We can keep this up through the holidays but come January, we need to get off our asses and get busy.

2020 is going to be far harder. Down-ballot candidates in red and purple districts are going to have a harder time.

If we aren’t working, we’re losing.

3/

I’m nervous, y’all.

And it isn’t because of Trump or impeachment or Republicans.

I’m nervous because the righteous anger that fueled the activism that delivered a blue wave is being numbed into an inert spectatorship.

4/

We can slide through these next few weeks but come 2020, if we start the year on our asses, we’re going to end it on our backs.

Rest up. Do whatever you must to restore your energy and recharge your batteries.

There will be no time to waste come Jan.
