In the first place, Dr. John Garang De Mabior was killed!

*Interviewer:*
What?

*Ghazi:*
Was killed....

*Interviewer:*
This is a very serious allegation.

*Ghazi:*
No, No, No.

*Interviewer:*
What is your evidence if I may ask?

*Ghazi:*
He was killed, and It is was a conspiracy against Northern Sudan because Dr. John Garang was well and truly working for the unity of the Sudan.

*Interviewer:*
So who killed him Ghazi?

*Ghazi:*
The same agents who are working for the overthrow of the system.

*Interviewer:*
Where is your evidence?

*Ghazi:*
Wait a second, I will explain to you. I’m going to give you very dangerous information, and you have to prove me wrong.

At the last Council of Ministers meeting, just before Sunday,...

...John Garang was meant to announce the Government of National Unity in Khartoum and then the Interim Government of Southern Sudan. Right?!

On that Sunday afternoon, I got a call from Mansour Khalid and another brother [no name mentioned] called too, informing me that...

...Dr. John Garang wanted to see me in the Presidential Palace at 3pm. I went to see John Garang at 3pm in the Presidential Palace, and he told me that he was going for a private trip to Uganda. He then asked me to go on his behalf and represent him at a conference in Cambridge.

As I was leaving, I was stopped by Bakari Hassan Salah [he was the then Minister of Defense; and was Omar al-Bashir’s First Vice President before his ouster in April 2019]. Bakari told me, “this man of yours”; “which man?”, I said? “John Garang” he said....”If he’s going to do...

..things the way that he’s doing them alone; something bad will happen to him”.
“Why do you say that?”, I said. “We heard he wants to go to Uganda, and he has not told us”, he said. “He’s now the First Vice President, and we must be informed of any movements that he intends to..

...make. He is not a guerrilla any more. His security is our responsibility, we need to escort him wherever he goes.....If you leave him to those people of yours, they will do something to him. He’s going to get himself killed if he starts to do these ‘private trips’ without us”.

And that’s exactly what happened?

*Ghazi:*
Yes, that’s exactly what happened. This is the first time I’ve told this story.

*Ghazi:*
Yes, first time. But there and then I was in denial, thinking; and told...
