Thread: My students presented their set of concepts to the @ParsonsTransD program today developed in our Data Civics studio this semester focused on design-led research and co-designed interventions for #Census2020. /1
Each project asks a How Might We (HMW) design question in response to design-led research that identified insights about #Census2020 as opportunities for intervention to help get all persons in NYC counted in the nation’s first digital census despite reasonable anxieties. /2
Sense Us: How might we co-design a card game exploring #Census2020 with teens at local library game programs so digital natives might engage with their own families at home on participating in the nation’s first digital census? /3
Census Benefit Calculator: HMW design a digital calculator for immigrants who distrust the government so they can estimate how census participation funds programs and services specific to their situation gathered from non-personal data points? /4
Census Conversation Guide: HMW co-design a guide for structured conversations about committing to census participation among those we know toward an emotional intelligence on civic engagement? /5
Census Report Card: HMW co-design an accountability mechanism for people taking the first digital census at local libraries to help protect patron safety and ensure secure and reliable services are provided to communities? /6
It’s been tremendously rewarding to work on #Census2020 with co-faculty @_samhaddix and our group of amazing @ParsonsTransD MFA candidates along with internal support at @TheNewSchool from @DigitalEqLab especially @gretabyrum and support from the city thru @NYC_CTO office. /end
