I had dental surgery and now I need a hug
This tooth has quite a history. It was the site of my root canal treatment, two decades ago. I was a root canal virgin.
I was maybe 19 (yes, quite young for a root canal). I remember the day, because I went to a dentist who's a dear family friend (back in Sharjah).
Anyway, fast forward to 2013, many years and a lot of dental abuse later, a big chunk of it broke. I remember the day too, because it was the day a dear friend (Thamer Saeed Salman) died.
I was also in Sharjah. I remember the friends I met, the places I was. I remember receiving the terrible news. And I remember walking around for the rest of the day carrying a chunk of tooth in my pocket (because I'm disgusting).
So, fast forward to 2014, I'm in prison, my tooth has a hole in it, and my cellmates tell me that one of the few perks of being in prison in the UAE (other than the screams and abuse and punches and spitting) is that you get free dental
I guess life goes very slow (it goes still really) when you're in prison. Some of my cellmates were there long enough to get multiple teeth fixed. Me on the other hand, I didn't want to be in prison for that long. I skipped out on the free dental.
