The fight for India's Muslims, Christians, and other vulnerable minorities will be a long and tough one. The Hindutva moment hasn't peaked, and things will get worse before they get even worse, before they get better. Plan for the long haul and rely upon your own resilience.
Moral outrage is justified, but it won't save you. International institutions are hamstrung. Western "liberal" nations are barely able to defend their own interests. Nobody will come to your help except yourselves. You're the ones you've been waiting for. You're it.
I wish I could say things will get better. I wish I could say the worst is behind you. But neither is true. Things will get worse and darker. You need to be prepared for an existential fight that should bring out the best in you.
Don't look for saviors, my friends. This fight is one not only for India's soul, it's also for your own soul (and spine). You need to be as brave you can be, as mature as you can be, as compassionate as you can be, and as resilient as you can be.
1. Take care of each other
2. Do not compromise on your dignity
3. Build stronger communities
4. Respond to hatred with compassion and spirituality
5. But most importantly, do not compromise even an iota when it comes to your dignity
Remember there are two kinds of activism. One is based upon appealing to a powerful other to act as an arbiter and to help. Another is based upon working hard to build your own power and setting your own agenda. You can guess which one I will advise you follow.
