The KJV translation of Luke 2:14's just not right, I can tell. Logic says there's no way that's the right translation and every other translation is wrong. The angel is *not* wishing all men peace and good will--only the ones God favors.
That's a significant difference. But I like the KJV version much better both for its familiarity and its ecumenism (in the broadest of senses). I certainly wish peace on earth and good will to all.

And if I were God, that's just what you'd get.

So your beliefs, if I understand them correctly--correct me if I'm wrong--are that the other party is so evil that it would justify a civil war of the kind that that then killed 2 percent of the population (6 million in the contemporary US)--
And that we should then subjugate the losers--by what means, forced re-education camps?--to ensure they never go Trump again, and this violent totalitarian hellscape seems desirable to you, preferable to the current state of affairs, which is imperfect,
but in which most of us are alive, and not sent to camps.

If this is your vision, then surely you can't be surprised when Trump tells his base, I"m the only thing standing between you and these dangerous Jacobins?"

Here's the paper that found, surprisingly, that political polarization is most extreme in the demographic groups *least* exposed the internet and social media: nber.org/papers/w23258.…
It's hard to disaggregate the effect of being old and crotchety from the effect of being less exposed to the Internet, but it sure seems as if the old and crotchety are key drivers of political polarization.
I wonder if this relationship holds up in other countries? Does anyone know?

I read an article this afternoon in our local rag, the Star. The headline caught my eye, “Caravan Leader’s Absence Pervades Warren Trial.” The leader of last years’ caravan, in 2018, was Ireneo Mujica, who led the Soros backed group, Pueblo Sin Fronteras. (City without Borders)
2/ In 2018 he was scurrying around Mexico locating “migrants” & helping them cross the border. He did this multiple times, & was finally taken into custody, where the Feds knew of his activities but ultimately let him go. Now, he is unable to be found. The Warren trial
