So just spoke with Prof Yamani Bhushan Tripathi (he, not she, as identified in some stories) on this #BhootVidya course. He's dean of the dept & this is how he described it: "Bhoot Vigyan is not related to ghosts. It is a misnomer & being misunderstood by society & media." 1/6
"It is about dealing with psychosomatic disorders from the Ayurvedic point of view, because in original Ayurvedic texts it is described as a disease of consciousness and soul -- which is sub divided in 16 types." 2/6
"We just borrowed the name as mentioned in the original and ancient Ayurvedic texts by Charakh. All our study and evaluations will be done based on scientific parameters, physiology and modern biochemistry." 3/6
"We developed courses in these 3 of 18 branches of Ayurveda which hadn't yet been taken up for (formal) study... since Ayurveda texts say that 66% of metabolic diseases are linked to the mind." 4/6
"Ayurveda in India hasn't really developed in this field because so far we've copied outside practices and not tried to evaluate, study or research other approaches in our Ayurvedic texts." 5/6
