Left Behind: The Future Is Here

Last night when I wrote down my thoughts about how our world and specifically Nigeria has changed in the last 20 years, little did I know that I was just scratching the surface.

A Thread
This morning, my wife went for her daily fitness round at the gym and when she got back to the room, she said she had to show me something. After breakfast, she led me to a section where all I could do was open my mouth in amazement.
That section is called Edge of Government where simulations of what the Government is working on are displayed. There is the Digital Twin, where your social media, financial and medical data are extracted simply by scanning you and your digital twin called Aurora Is replicated.
Aurora can now help you take better decisions such as getting a daycare for your child and even getting a better career through all the previous information collated.
Then I saw simulations of artificial organ manufacturing, stem cells engineering and 3D bioprinting. It means if you need to replace a part of your body, it can be done shortly. Then we saw electro culture- where nature can be boosted to improve food cultivation
I also saw another simulation called Hack Your City Routine that showed models of how it is possible to prevent an accident even before it happens, how cow manure can clear air pollution
and how you can insert plastic bottles instead of money to purchase your bus tickets. I saw how plastic bottles were inserted. I strolled around and saw Welcome To The Future inscribed everywhere. It's simply mind blowing.
I stepped outside and saw a floating oval structure in the air. I was told it's a museum under construction. I saw another office with a bold inscription Welcome To The Fourth Industrial Revolution.
So, let's continue with our keke napep discussions and keep up our fights on behalf of politicians. Let's continue to dance 'gbese' and 'tesumole'. Let's continue to fight over Tacha and Mercy on twitter. Let's rejoice over politicians who pay salaries on time
Truth is we are already left behind. We can't even pretend to play catch up anymore. The future is here but we are not even in it. May our children not become slaves in the coming industrial revolution.
