What was the other U.S. agency that approved Page as an "operational contact" with Russian intelligence? Suspect we'll find out soon enough!
The FBI thought Steele, as a Confidential Human Source, wasn't also in business for himself and his clients and expected him to share his intel only with them and Fusion GPS. They were wrong. Also note his description of a sub-source as a bit of a fantasy merchant.

Reminder: Sessions left on November 7 of last year. Whitaker was acting AG until William Barr was sworn in on February 14 of this year.

So from early November to mid-February, Whitaker was handling the AG job. Which includes regular updates from the DOJ Inspector General.
So in that 3 1/2 month interim period, Whitaker got a good look at both the Mueller Special Counsel's Office and the ongoing IG investigations - which includes the FISA one.

Live tweeting this Mark Zuckerberg @Georgetown event on free speech since a student journalist just told me they are not allowed to ask questions. Plus they apparently collected q’s from students & are picking them rather than Mark getting unfiltered ones. So, sort of free speech
I told student to stand up and ask one anyway! Hope he will. Btw, I am an alum of the @georgetownsfs and was a pain in the ass then too.

A key problem we have with big tech is something I call "Conflicted Communications." Advertising corrupts communications networks just like it corrupts media. But we have systems set up for media, but not for these new information utilities. nytimes.com/2019/10/17/opi…
The problem with Google and Facebook is twofold. They have monopolized ad revenue globally. But they have also themselves *been corrupted* by ad revenue, aka conflicted communications. Larry/Sergey knew this would happen. They wrote about it in the 1990s. nytimes.com/2019/10/17/opi…

The truth is we have no idea right now of what message will win the 2018 election. We have not had a primary. No one has voted. The purpose of these exercises is to allow people voice in the direction their party heads. Friedman (and others) want to short circuit that process.
