In spite of rumors to the contrary, some elderly Black folks are all in for Warren and things like free college education.

I know, because I'm one of them. Shall I explain why?

It has to do with my personal history.
Back in the 1980's, I was a young, single mother who had grown tired of jobs that depended on the strength of my back and lacked any clear path to bettering my situation.

I bought a typing manual, a type-writer and pushed my skill level up to 40 words a minute.
Just that, and the ability to pass a test of reading and basic math with a higher score that most of the others taking the test was enough to get me a job as a clerk. Over the years, I've promoted, within that same agency, to manager level.
My High School education gave me what I needed to pass the test, but wasn't required to get me in to the test. To promote, the qualification was having done well in the current job for a specified time. Advanced education not required.

That was back in the 80's.
High School, free to all, gave me enough of a foundation to build on that I could get a foot in the door and wedge myself into a comfortable life.

There are few careers where High School can do that today.
I'm in favor of free college because I'm in favor of fairness. It isn't fair that young people today, to start at the same place that I did, often take on debt so heavy that they won't be free of it until they're decades out of school.
It will be expensive, but will pay back huge dividends to our country's future.

It will pay us back far more than allowing corporations to earn billions from us in yearly profits while paying nothing back to us in taxes.

Free college now. Because it's the fair thing to do.
