1/ THREAD: Reigniting the radical #imaginary spirit of the #revolution is essential at a time when streets have been stripped from some of their earlier momentum.

How do we overcome attempts at taming our econ expectations by elitist "realists" & those sectarianizing the mvmt?⬇️
2/ Disappointment followed the Diab's appointment. Coupled with the worsening econ situation, people are drained, distressed, & depressed.

Most are tired and desperately want any kind of resolution to the existing situation. That's how elites manage to reproduce the status-quo.
3/ We're at a point where the two dominant trends re. econ "solution" are far from systemic.

First, there are those who'd settle for a right-wing plan (IMF-led or not) based on austerity, bailing out banks, continuing to pay bulk of debt, privatization, etc. (similar to Greece).
4/ Then, there's the more centrist or left-leaning elitists talking about (minor) debt restructuring, higher taxes, some social security if feasible. But they'll be the first to remind that "realistically", we need foreign $ (more debt), so to prepare for austerity and suffering.
5/ What annoys me about these args is theyre actually not that different: both normalize status-quo & paint a future where citizens pay for the mistakes of politicians, bankers & donors.

No one should be forced to pick b/w a shitty & shittier option as if alternatives dont exist
6/ Look at countries that went down path of minor reforms to inherently flawed capitalist systems:

Recession endures for years, unemployment/poverty/inflation increase, education/healthcare/pension are discounted, debt isnt repaid cause tax revenue decreases, banks prosper, etc.
7/ Instead, lets ask:

Why not talk about expropriating bank owners to reclaim assets & plan econ recovery ourselves? Why not consider 70-80% taxes on wealthiest? Why cant we reclaim stolen public lands, illegal beach resorts, and oligo/monopolized sectors like telecom and waste?
8/ Why can't the economy & productive sectors be worker-owned instead? Cause trickle-down econ. works? Or God forbid we infringe on precious private property?

Basically, why can't we imagine what a people-led economy truly looks like? Why are we bound to neocolonial debt traps?
9/ For those who think this is too far-fetched, consider reality awaiting citizens this decade under any non-radical proposal. Why would mid & lower class give up on rights, justice & accountability?

Point is: alternatives that dont require people paying for elites' mess exist.
10/ And dear pundits: is this utopic reality not strategic when quick solutions are needed? Perhaps, but whtv change ur advocating for from within natural order of system isnt what a revolutionary mvmt is about. Frankly, your donors will end up setting a regressive agenda anyway.
