I fell asleep for 20 minutes and had the most beautiful dream that I handed this letter to @SteveFDA on 1.15.20 while I’m DC with over 100,000 signatures and that within weeks we had worked out a deal to make expanded access to promising therapies real.

My grandfather was the last U.S. Ambassador to Iran before the Shah fell. Before he died he wrote a memoir for us about his incredible life--which included serving in WWII. Given the events swirling now, I picked up the memoir and read the chapter on the Iranian Revolution...
He described an attack on the U.S. Embassy in February 1979--months before the ultimate hostage crisis. For three hours a mob attacked the embassy, ultimately taking him and a hundred other Americans hostage. Amazingly none were killed and all were eventually freed.
His words describing his emotions and actions during the attack shook me to the core, both because of what they described and because I found that as I read them this time I finally viscerally understood them. He wrote,

Question: if a loved one were diagnosed with a terminal or rare disease and there was a safe drug that could help them but was going through additional testing would you want access to it?

For those that follow me you see me tweet alot about hope in the fight against ALS. There are many reasons for this, but among the most important is the explosion of promising treatments. Stem cells, gene therapies, and on and on.
In a few years our capacity to combat ALS will be astounding if we keep up this pace of discovery. It is critical that as we shoot for the future we do not forget about the present and the hundreds of thousands living with ALS today.

I joined a gym today. Normally that is not news. But when a guy 2.5 years into his fight against ALS joins a gym because he sees true hope for our fight in 2020 and because he wants a front row seat to that revolution, that—that is worth a tweet.
Update: You know that feeling you get when you realize the world is full of amazing, inspiring people and you can’t stop smiling/hoping you get the chance to thank each in-person? Yeah, I got that right now from my head to my toes. #LifeReallyIsBeautiful
Update 2: a guy in this shirt 👇 just walked on a treadmill for 40 minutes and did a multi-exercise arm circuit. He walks with a bit of a limp and a cain. He is smiling and singing. Be careful not to get to close as he may spontaneously high five or hug you...

Has anyone written human au massage therapist Hank yet? Because I need it. Like, picture an exhausted, tense Connor, straight from work. He doesn't normally do this kind of thing, but someone gave him a voucher as a gift and it's about to expire so what the hell?
He goes, even though he's nervous and feels self conscious, totally unsure what to expect. Maybe one of those seedy, happy-ending types of places, even though that's the last thing he wants. Especially when he imagines what his masseuse might be like. Now that he thinks about it-
he suddenly feels that he'd much rather not be touched at all.

But then he pulls up to the place, and it's clearly classy and expensive. A young, blonde woman at reception tells him to wait for a second, so he does, looking around. The decor is clean, minimalistic.

Today seeing a tweet saying that H are fine, if M after 300 years and British after 200 years of invasion couldn’t harm H, what can happen now? I started thinking as to how blind can educated people be.
In the past 800 years we have been attacked repeatedly.
But H believed in the Sanatana Dharma and they followed the principles. They took pride in being H and did everything to protect their Gods and temples. They taught the basic principles of our Dharma to their children. The sanctity and goodness of our religion was maintained.
Now coming to the point of what is different today.

For the past 70 years, people have been educated to be secular - Indian style. While the true meaning of Secular is ‘not having any connection with religion’, in India it meant something different

Trump begrudgingly "caved" due to the backlash.

But, as it was all about holding the children hostage to get his demands...the order still pressures Congress to act quickly to avert the problems it delays and creates.
1. KEEPS FAMILIES TOGETHER...WITH BIG CAVEATS.

While the DOJ will continue to prosecute ALL adults crossing the border illegally, it keeps families together but only "where appropriate and consistent with law and available resources."

Leaves flexibility.
2. KEEPS FAMILIES W/ DHS.

Parents can stay with their children in detention with DHS, but the catch is only to the "extent permitted by law and subject to the availability of appropriations."

BIG CAVEAT...THE FLORES AGREEMENT PREVENTS CHILDREN FROM BEING DETAINED AFTER 20 DAYS.
