I’m blown away - I just saw what was absolutely the finest, most comprehensive , forward facing coverage of an incident involving sexual violence & serial predation anchored by this guy👇at Rockford NBC affiliate @13WREX.

The story is deplorable, but the coverage gives hope.
@JamesStrattonTV - if you can, PLEASE find a way to post the full first segment from tonight’s show on YouTube, so it can serve as a model for local & national news coverage addressing the increasing presence and emboldening of serial predators in American society.
I’m serious - that shit deserves an award.
Some more details about the story that I shared last week - the case stood out to me even before the news was released about the extremely rare sexual violence during a takeover robbery.

if Congress had received proper notification and relevant info in advance.

But judgment is the job.
The administration's job is to provide relevant information to Congress IN ADVANCE of any action, so no assumptions are needed.

This is how the system is designed.
Designers call this 'setting user expectations.' It's a critical feature of any system - subvert expectations, and users feel cheated - even violated.

If the system is subverted, you have no right to blame those who are trying to do their job with limited information.

I cannot get my head around this: the majority of abuse happens within family structures. Cis women (and all children) are most at risk from within marriages, partnerships, and close family circles.

But banning trans ppl from self declaration is the hill to fucking die on?!
Think of all the abuse the people you've loved have been through. Think of the abuse your community has been through. Think of the abuse you've been through.

Would stopping trans ppl from having updated birth certificates have prevented any of it?
It's not only that this position is transphobic, and specifically transmisogynistic. It's that it also throws all victims of abuse - cis and trans, queer and straight, women and men and neither/either/both- under the bus, because hating on trans women is apparently more important
