Wow. Full gaslight from Facebook exec who in June 2014, after I expressed concerns about Facebook’s data practices, assured me they practiced “privacy by design” from start to finish across the org. So put little stock in their claim here. @alfredwkng cnet.com/news/at-ces-fa…
That same month June 2014 was the month when Aleksandr Kogan and his partner (Joseph Chancellor, who went on to work at Facebook) signed their deal to sell Facebook data to SCL/Cambridge Analytica.
And then during next 18 months Guardian investigated and ultimately reported on it. We now know from records Facebook employees had waved red flags but it resulted in a cover-up and PR tactics rather than a focus on privacy. It’s wild for same people to be comparing FB to Apple.
