This is how the PR machinery works. They have creatives, content, strategy all figured out much before the actual event. Right after Deepika left from JNU, the following creatives started floating on SM platforms like Twitter, FB, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. #DeepikaPRBackfires
Soon within 24 hours #ISupportDeepika was trending at No. 1 in India with 236K tweets and No. 3 in Worldwide trends with 234k tweets. But how did they get so many tweets in 24 hours when #BoycottChhaapaak was trending at No. 2 with just 177K Tweets? Weird no? #DeepikaPRBackfires
Here’s how! On #ISupportDeepika trend, you’ll see a series of tweets with same content, same photo literally copy pasted by handles. Also, PR companies get blue tick handles to tweet it for (Rs. 500 I assume 😉) which pushes the trend further. #DeepikaPRBackfires #DeepikaAtJNU

This trend #BoycottChhapaak was pushed even further once the reviews of both movies were published by Taran Adarsh and many other critics. Suddenly the word of mouth spread and people started booking #TanhajiTheUnsungWarrior. #TanhajiReview #ChhapaakReview #DeepikaPRBackfires
Provoking this was a huge uproar when the filmmakers changed the name of the accused in the film to appease a certain community rather than showing the facts and reality. This was followed by the real victim’s Wikipedia page being tampered with. #DeepikaPRBackfires #Chhapaak
@IndiaToday did a trend analysis between #ISupportDeepika vs #BoycottChhapaak with the former leading. Lutyens media fails to understand the nationalist wave just like they undermined it during the 2019 elections. Some people don’t learn from their mistakes. #DeepikaPRBackfires
Irony is Deepika Padukone’s #Chhappak had to shelve out millions for this failed PR strategy and Ajay Devgan’s #TanhajiTheUnsungWarrior got free publicity and PR from the nationalists on Twitter + word of mouth. Look at the show schedule for the second day #DeepikaPRBackfires
Then comes the Box Office figures of Day 1 which would give a good analysis of this PR strategy. The end result:

Tanhaji - Rs. 16cr.
Chhappak - Rs. 4.5cr.

Filmmakers need to understand there is a difference between virtual trends vs real trends. #DeepikaPRBackfires #Chhapaak

Keeping #DeepikaPRBackfires aside, one should watch the movie for the acid attack victim Laxmi Agarwal who has been through this trauma and misery. This is a tribute to Laxmi and many such girls. Also, please donate generously to NGO’s who look after these acid attack victims 🙏
